Análisis del margen bruto de una producción de eucaliptos clonados en el distrito de San Estanislao, Departamento de San Pedro, Paraguay

Abstract

Eucalyptus production represents a tempting activity for rural producers in Paraguay, due to its economic viability and the large investments required for its development. This research presents the main objective of analyzing the economic viability of eucalyptus production planted in the district of San Estanislao, department of San Pedro, using gross margin data. To this end, data on productive indicators were collected from a 3-year plantation period and a 7-year projection, covering a surface area of 9 ha. These indicators included the volume of firewood and timber produced, average planting density (Diameter at Breast Height, DBH), in addition to economic indicators of productive data, such as operating and total costs, income from firewood and timber sales, cash flow, and gross margin. The design was descriptive, collecting qualitative and quantitative data. The results show a total production of 9 ha of firewood, reaching 814.8 m3, with estimated revenues of 62,493,709 ₲, while total timber production reaches 2,161 m3, worth 541,240,159 ₲. Regarding cash flow, this indicator shows a negative relationship across much of the projection. And, 2024, the ratio of revenue to expenditure has exceeded revenue by 36.2%. The 10-year gross margin projection represents 63.7% of revenue from the sale of timber and firewood.
